Vacation Bible School Starts This Sunday!

Riverside’s Vacation Bible School starts this Sunday, June 26 and continues until Thursday, June 30. It will be from 6:00 – 8:45 pm each evening. The theme for this year’s VBS is:
VBS 2016 Logo - Submerged

There will be classes for everyone from 3 years old through adults, and a meal will be served each evening, so you don’t have to worry about eating before you come. Here’s the menu for each evening: Sunday – Pizza, Monday – Sub sandwiches and chips, Tuesday – Pancakes and sausage, Wednesday – chicken strips and macaroni & cheese.

Everyone who comes to VBS will spend the week diving deep into God’s Word! There will be different Bible lessons each evening, along with crafts, music, and games. Bring your Bible and come prepared to learn and have fun.

On Thursday night, June 30th, there will be a commencement service at 7:00 pm. Parents & grandparents can come see what the kids have learned at VBS during the week. A hot dog supper will be served in the Fellowship Hall after the commencement, and everyone is welcome to attend.

If you know of anyone who would like to come to VBS, but needs a ride to get here, please call the church office at (828) 648-4709.

The adult VBS class will be taught by Billy Halbrook and will be held in the Rubye Room, starting at 6:00 each evening. The theme of this year’s adult class is “How Dare We Ask Why?: Lessons from Job, an impatient man who asked ‘Why’?” The class will cover the entire book of Job and will look at these four topics:

  1. Why is man here in the first place?
  2. Suffering
  3. White collar sins
  4. What is God really looking for, Old Testament & New Testament?

The adult class is for anyone 18 and up. If you plan to attend, pick up an information sheet in the hall with further information about the class and what you need to read to prepare for the class.

(Sorry, adults, but there are no crafts, music, or games for your class. You do get to eat, though!)
